There is a huge increase in amount of homework. Quizzes, tests and midterms are harder compare to high school. Writing at the college level is difficult for me because English is my second language. Figuring out what I was planning to major in was the hardest part because I entered college not knowing what I was interested in doing.
Procrastination and distractions were the main reasons why it was difficult to get all my work done. In high school, working and going to school wasn't as difficult. In college, working and going to school is difficult because I would have to study two-three times harder.
In college, there is a huge increase in the amount of homework, but getting it done wasn't the case because learning something from it was the key.
This is actually what I really good at. I feel like the only way to learn is to do homework outside the class and have all the attention focused on lecture. If I had to take 15 classes and if I had to do homework for each class and if the homework was all due on the same day, I would panic.
I learn a lot from this because I can now prioritize my homework from most time consuming to least time consuming. When there are assignments that will take more time, I will try to finish those assignments first.
If the homework is worth a lot of points, I would definitely do it first. In high schoolI would finish the homework that would take the least time and do some homework in the last minute. My struggles has always been quizzes, tests and midterms.
No matter how hard I study, when it is time for them ,I do bad on them. I been telling myself that once I get into college, I will do better because of a new start.
That is not going so well, but I did learn from mistakes to find my weaknesses. I feel like I did do well on quizzes and exams that has to do with words instead of number because college focused more on real life models and interpretation.
When I had to interpret equations and problems, I felt like it was a transformation from high school to college because in high school, I hated interpretations.
I took precalculus in the winter quarter and I am taking calculus right now. I understand that exams does take a huge percentage of my grade, but it is just my freshmen year.
